Slipstream-Chipotle H3O Pro Team

Led by five national champions, two Tour de France yellow jersey wearers, a Tour de France polka-dot jersey wearer, one former World Champion, and a previous winner of Paris-Roubaix, Slipstream is ready to make history in 2008.

A sampling of the talent on the 2008 team:

David Millar
Current British national road and time trial champion, David Millar made his mark as the youngest yellow jersey wearer ever. In 2000, he beat Lance Armstrong in stage one of the Tour de France. After serving a two-year suspension, David is one of cycling’s leading spokesmen for anti-doping and a member of the World Anti Doping Association (WADA). David pays meticulous attention to detail in every aspect of his racing and training.

David Zabriskie
The only American to have won stages in all three grand tours (France, Italy and Spain), “DZ” is known for his wickedly dry wit. In 2005, he spent three days in the Tour de France yellow jersey. Current US national time trial champion, Dave wins big races and keeps morale high with his colorful personality.

Magnus Backstedt
Magnus is the current Swedish national road champion, the 2004 Paris-Roubaix winner, and a Tour de France stage winner. Known for his generous personality and massive power, Magnus is in his element in the trenches of the historic, one-day classics. And at 6’5”, he doesn’t get pushed around!

Tom Danielson
A Tour of Spain stage winner and Tour of Georgia overall winner, Tom is considered one of the best pure climbing talents in the world.

Danny Pate
Danny is recognized as a talented next-generation rider in the United States. He is renowned for fearlessly attacking and instigating race-winning breakaways.

Julian Dean
The Kiwi Rocket, Julian is the New Zealand national road champion and one of the strongest finishers in the pro peloton.

Christian Vande Velde
Having ridden support for Lance Armstrong during his Tour de France reign, Christian is one of the most experienced team riders in the pro peloton. His uncanny ability to read the race as it unfolds earned him the role as Slipstream/Chipotle H3O’s on-the-road captain.

Christophe Laurent
For a team that looks for every advantage, having an experienced and intelligent rider from the home country of the most important race of the year is a strategic must. In a rare move, Christophe Laurent decided to leave the top French outfit, Credit Agricole, and move to an upstart American team. He’ll serve as chief lieutenant and scout for the team’s leaders in their search for victory.
