Julie Emmerman, Psy.D.

Dr. Emmerman earned her undergraduate degree in psychology at Skidmore College, a doctorate degree in clinical and health psychology at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology/Chicago and completed her internship at the University of Colorado-Boulder. In 2002, Dr. Emmerman began studying sport psychology, welcoming athletes into her practice in late 2004. She participates in Sport Psychology conferences annually where the focus is research, ethics, and ongoing professional development for doctorate level practitioners, and is a member of the American Psychological Association Division of Sport and Exercise Psychology. She is also a member of the American Association of Cycling Team Doctors.
A former professional cyclist, Julie is keenly aware of and sensitive to the unique needs of elite and professional athletes. She is passionate about providing individualized services that assist athletes in meeting and exceeding both individual and team performance goals. Services for Garmin-Slipstream riders, as well as other athletes, address mental skill set training, developmental and clinical issues, team building and leadership development.
In addition to her activities with Garmin-Slipstream, Dr. Emmerman maintains an active private practice. Her practice includes elite and professional athletes from a wide variety of sports as well as clinical work with non-athletes. Following a successful introductory season with the team last year, Julie is delighted to be a part of Garmin-Slipstream in 2009.
