| Team Garmin-Chipotle H30 has 23 hungry, hard-working pro cyclists who are fueled by the power of Clif Bar. On average, each rider consumes 3 Clif bars, 6 Clif Shot Bloks & Gels, and 1.5 cans of Clif Shot Electrolyte & Recover drink each and every day. During the Tour de France, our riders will easily consume twice that on an average day, and much more in the mountains. | |

Clif Bar: The riders have loads of choices here - Clif, Mojo, Nectar, Builder's, ZBar, even Luna bars - and average about six bars a day during the Tour de France. Unless you are David Millar, who likes to race so he has an excuse to eat more Clif bars! |
|
Clif Shot Bloks & Gels: These are great to fuel the fire during a long stage and the riders usually consume about three packs of Bloks and four Gels per day. Though if you are Will Frischkorn off on a 233 km break during Milan-Sanremo, you will go through 5 packs of Bloks and at least 6 Gels. |
|
Clif Shot Electrolyte & Recovery drink: These are key for hydration & recovery and the riders usually go through 1.5 cans of Electrolyte and Recovery drink a day. Double that number for a long, hot stage through the Pyrénées. |

On an average day, each rider drinks about 8-10 bottles. That is about the same for Christian. As for food, normally they each have about 3-4 CLIF bars (Mojo, Nectar, Luna and the original - just depends on what their taste buds dictate that day!), 8 CLIF Gels, 5 packs of CLIF Shot Bloks, 2 fresh panini, and 5-7 of Allen Lim’s special rice cakes. Sounds like a lot, no?
Well we had to double that for Christian on stage 10 (and well most days)!!! He was an eating machine! And still hungry at the end of the race! He ate a CLIF Builder’s protein bar and drank 1.5 liters of CLIF Shot Electrolyte drink!

How do the riders prepare for today’s 29.5 km ITT?

The feed zone. What is it and why have one?
The feed zone is a designated point at about midway through the race. Normally two soigneurs wear a team long sleeve jersey or a vest so the riders recognize us. We hand off a mussette to each one with the following inside:
2 bottles of Clif electrolyte […]
