With 2013 drawing to a close, we sat down with Team Garmin-Sharp CEO Jonathan Vaughters and asked him his favorite moments from 2013. JV also gave us some insight into our team goals for 2014. 2014 is shaping up to be an amazing year for Team Garmin-Sharp, we’re excited to share it with our fans!

What was your favorite moment from the 2013 season?

JV: Dan Martin winning stage 9 in the TDF. I’d really riled up and pissed off the guys by putting so much emphasis into stage 9. The fact that they pulled it off was special.

Who was your MVP / Most Valuable Rider from 2013?

JV: Gotta be Dan Martin. He knows how to win, races well all season. Manager’s dream.

Who was your 6th man in 2013, the rider who performed admirably, but didn’t necessarily get all the notoriety?

JV: He did get some notoriety (Stage 11 win of the 2013 Giro), but still…I have to go with Ramanus (Navardauskas) on this one. He takes a lickin’ and keeps on tickin’!

What are your top 3 goals for 2014?

JV:

1. Execute better on having riders well prepared and healthy at each race.

2. Create a more tactically aware core group of riders.

3. Execute potentially race winning plans with greater consistency.

Which returning rider are you most excited to watch in 2014?

JV: Lachlan Morton.

Which new rider are you most excited to watch in 2014?

JV: Janier Acevedo.

What type of fashion styles will you personally be wearing in 2014?

JV: I think more hearty and colorful tones will continue to be my way. I really love the later 60′s Mad Men style, with bright oranges and greens. Double monkstrap bench made shoes with Norwegian style sole stitching; those will be a part of my dressing too.
