Race report: Vuelta a España, stage 2

It was a hot day for the peloton at the Vuelta. Director Sportif Bingen Fernandez sent this report.

It was around 40C during the whole stage with little wind. Curiously this region is a notorious place for a lot of wind.

After some attacks and the control of Movistar a small group of three riders formed off the front. Movistar kept them around four minutes.

After 60 km we had to change the coolers between cars because we finished all the bottles! When we passed the feeding zone our soigneurs were ready to feed not only our riders but also our car coolers with more bottles.

They had ready two big bags for each car which was enough to not worry about running out of our bottles during the rest of the stage.

At the end the break was caught and a sprint finish was going to happen. Our man was Koldo but he was boxed in the last meters so he couldn’t really open up his sprint.
