Thomas Dekker took his first sprint win in the argyle on the final stage of the Circuit Sarthe. Earlier in the race Michel Kreder repeated his first win as pro from 2011, winning the sprint on stage 2a!
“I am really happy with my first sprint win for Garmin-Barrucuda,” Dekker said after the race.
“I had a difficult period after Paris-Nice because I got the flu, and I was worried to get in shape again for the Ardennes Classics. Now I am looking forward to the upcoming weeks!”
Michel Kreder’s win was reminiscent of his two earlier wins this year, with younger brother and first-year pro Raymond leading the team effort.
“We decided that he’d do the same as at the Tour Med,” Michel recounted to Cyclingnews. “He left a gap behind me at the exit of the roundabout with 500 metres to go. I took an advantage of 20 to 30 metres and never got caught.”
