Report: Punctures riddle Qatar stage finish

Garmin-Barracuda survived a day of bad luck in the fourth stage of the Tour of Qatar with Tyler Farrar solidly in second overall and Ramunas Navardauskas still in the best young rider jersey.

After the team worked hard all day to help establish a decisive split in the peloton, bad luck struck Farrar and others with 5km to go as punctures riddled the field.

Despite the bad luck, Farrar was immensely grateful to his teammates for all their hard work for him throughout the race.

“The team continues to ride great here in Qatar,” said Farrar.

“It was another hard day and I’m really proud of how we worked together. Its a testament to the team that we’re still up on GC and Ramunas kept the young riders jersey. Everyone is riding impressively.”

With two more stages to go, Farrar will have more opportunities for a stage win.

“I’m happy with our performance so far and there’s still more racing to be done with two more tough stages ahead. I’m looking forward to it.”
