Where in the world is the Chipotle Development Team? Director Chann McRae checks in and gives us some insight to the upcoming Redlands Bicycle Classic

Q: Where’s the team currently racing?
CM: We’re racing Giro do Interior de Sao Paulo 2011 (UCI 2.2) Brazil, from March 15th to March 19th. (Picture from the race caravan below)
Q: Chann, how would you say things are going this spring for the U23 development program?
CM: Looking at our race results their progression is going very well. We’ve had some great results with Lachlan Morton taking 6th overall at the Tour of Langkawi, and Jacob Rathe grabbing a stage win at Rutas de Americas. We have also had 7 top 3 placings between Raymond Kreder in Rutas Americas and Andrei Krasilnikau in the Giro do Interior de Sao Paulo. A new rider in 2011, Anders Newburry rode to a solid 4th GC in Gabon, Africa.
Q: In the upcoming Redlands Bicycle Classic, what are your team goals?
CM: Our goal for Redlands is to race moment to moment, and apply ourselves at all times, in every part of the race.
Q: Can you tell us a bit more about the key stages of the Redlands Bicycle Classic?
CM: The key stages for Redlands are the prologue, the beaumont and sunset road race stages.
Q: Traditionally, the sunset loop road race can be a pretty decisive stage at Redlands, what do you think it will be like this year?
CM: It can really go 2 ways. In one scenario, the leader’s team could be put under pressure and lose control of the race, allowing a General Classification threat to get away on the attack. We could also see a controlled stage, where the leader’s team controls the race well, and the leader going into Sunset retains the overall lead.
Q: Who’s the rider to watch at Redlands for The Chipotle Development Program?
CM: Our leader will be the one who puts himself in that position. We will wait and see.
