February 23, 2011 – Boulder, CO – Slipstream Sports today officially announced Chipotle Mexican Grill as the title sponsor of its 2011 development team. The team, which has also achieved Continental status, will be officially named Team Chipotle.
Owned and managed by Slipstream Sports, the development program has been grooming the next generation of cycling champions since its inception. As a feeder team for pro team Garmin-Cervelo, which features Peter Stetina, who jumped rank last year, Team Chipotle will compete in a much bigger selection of races in 2011.
Chipotle has been a long-time supporter of Slipstream Sports. Riders for Team Chipotle are among the most finely tuned athletes in the world and their diet is a critical component of training, conditioning, and daily lifestyle. These professional cyclists seek only the freshest, most wholesome foods for maximum performance.
Team Chipotle features Danny Summerhill, two-time national U23 CycloCross Champion and rising star Lachlan Morton, and will again be directed by former pro Chann McRae. Additionally, Kirk Carlsen has made the decision to step down from the pro tour team to continue to recover from illness and will race with the Continental team in 2011. Team Chipotle grew out of the team that Jonathan Vaughters, CEO of Slipstream Sports, created in 2005 with the goal of developing young riders and promoting ethical sport.

“2011 will be bike racing at it’s best, there will be epic battles in the mountains, on the pavé, and in the sprints,” said Chann McRae, Director Sportiff. “Our line up gives us a very balanced and dynamic team. The guys have worked hard this winter, and are very hungry for the season. ”
“When I started this team in 2005, my dream was to foster an environment where young riders could flourish,” said Jonathan Vaughters, CEO of Slipstream Sports. “Today I believe that dream has come to life. Chipotle has been, from the beginning of our relationship, a great sponsor that fully supports our mission of helping talented young riders climb the professional ranks. Together we have created the right dynamic for these young athletes to flourish. I’m proud of what all of our riders continue to achieve.”
