Race report: Tuft crushes Eneco prologue
Canadian time trial champion Svein Tuft set a blistering time in the prologue of the Eneco Tour to win the first ProTour race of his career.
“I kind of had a feeling about today!” a smiling Tuft said. “I didn’t expect it to take it by that much but I had a good feeling today.”
“There are a few corners out there you have to be careful of but there are some good open stretches too.”
As for having and defending the leader’s jersey, the affable Canadian was realistic about the week but still clearly happy to be in the position to defend.
“There are some difficult stages coming up but its a nice way to start!”
“We’ll see how it shakes up, it is usually a breakaway on a day like tomorrow.”
“We have a pretty strong crew here with experienced guys and I’ll be relying on them to help us throughout.”
