Race report: Tour de France, stage 6

The Argyle Express came close to victory again on stage 6, with Tyler Farrar running second in the field sprint, despite his broken wrist. The team once again executed a great lead-out, and the hopes are that the next sprint will be the one.

Tyler Farrar - Tour de France, stage 6

“[Julian] Dean did a really good job today,” said Robbie Hunter.

“The final was really fast. I got on the front with 300m to go and saw Tyler wasn’t on my wheel.”

“Cav had a good day again but we were in second with Ty so good stuff. Cav just had perfectg positioning by his guy.”

“We only missed out slightly and if Ty had been on my wheel it would have been a different story!”

David Millar - Tour de France, stage 6

Great showing by the team today. Robbie & Tyler were right there. Not to discount anybody else, but I hope Dave Z gets over his knee issue and a) can stay in the Tour, b) can lend some support, and c) can get up the road in a break over the next couple of weeks.

The way the entire team has bounced back is quite a testament to the entire organization AND the character and heart of each individual on the team. You guys have the support of a great many of us.

Great job. Great picture of Tyler and Cav. I’ve about had heart attacks for the past two days! Good to see the boys are in such good shape at this stage of the tour. As for tomorrow, two words: GO RYDER!!!

Proud of you guys for sticking with it despite the poor luck this week. The last two days especially you’ve shown nothing but class and commitment in those final kilometers! Second in a stage of the tour de france with a cracked wrist and sprained elbow – amazing! Cavendish is going down!!

Keep having a go. Robbie you had such great positioning, better than Renshaw just a pity Tyler wasn’t on your wheel instead of trying to jump off Cav’s. You’ll get there boys.

Full credit to Tyler – it’s got to be hard sprinting with a damaged wrist.
