Race Report: Tour of Romandie, stage 2

Team Garmin-Transitions had another go at a field sprint and Robbie Hunter put in a strong performance, netting third on the day. Johnny Weltz has the report:

Another hot day in Switzerland and everybody was tired after yesterday’s stage. But it still started out very fast. After 20km a group of four got a go from the peloton and they gained up to five minutes before the bunch started to drill them back.

We didn’t have any intention of being in the break today as our goal was to bring Robbie the best way to the finish, so after a stage that was very controlled Vande Velde was the last one from the team to deliver Robbie in the best position as posible for the sprint.

Robbie delivered a solid third place spot after fighting through slower traffic in the end. And he is still progress after a break from injury. Today the team got it together and did a great job.
