Farrar so close – Tour of Qatar, stage 6

Director’s report from Johnny Weltz:

The GC was pretty settled so a stage win was the goal. The riders was very motivated to finish up the best possible. Right at the start four riders took off and as all of them were far down on the GC the leader’s team didn’t ride too hard. They kept gaining time and got close to four minutea, then several teams took up the pace. We had to save as much as possible with only six riders left, and this sprint was going to need strong support from the team.

So we kept low profile until 10 km to go, then we took part in the chase and the guys stayed strong up there all the way until Tyler was delivered. He did a very strong performance and was only beaten by Chicci who got a half a meter advance in the sprint, which was enough to stay clear to the line.

It was still nice for once this week for Tyler to be able to get a run for the sprint without any incidents! In all the team has been very strong all through the race but crashes and punctures have bee too big a part of our week here. On to Oman!
