Ryder Hesjedal named Canadian cyclist of year, decade!

The web site Canadian Cyclist held an online poll last week to have fans determine the top Canadian male and female riders of 2009 and the entire decade. Team Garmin-Transitions’ Ryder Hesjedal took top honors as the best male rider, as well as the most popular ride of the year with his stage win at the Vuelta a Espana.

Congrats Ryder!

Ever since he came on the scene in BC he has been a dominant rider.
He won my event the Cheakamus Challenge before switching to the road.
It was the first time I saw anyone ride the Microwave Climb in the middle ring because he didn’t have a granny.
    Keep kicking ass Ryder

We were at the tdf and the old french guy we were standing beside was fascinated with our being ca
nadian and found every single mention of Ryder in the paper he grabbed. That made us smile and the vuelta win made us very proud of “weight of a nation” Hesjedal. You shoulder it well.
