I am so relieved that I won — I am so happy that I felt as good as I hoped to — and above all, I am over the bloody moon I won a sword!
But what makes this great is that I can share my success with my team. Kiwi Guy is sitting here next to me right now having a beer, he has done 62 grand tour stages this year, 63 tomorrow. From May 9 until now he has on average raced every other day… that is our sport. That is Kiwi Guy! He is so sick and tired and finished and yet he hasn’t given up.
As for the rest of this race, Ryder ROCKS! He is becoming a real road pro, the way he raced the first half of this race was inspiring, and how he won his stage was pure talent, courage, and savoir-faire.
And Tyler — I love Ty — spent so much of this year learning how to lead him out and finally did it properly for the first time the day he won, it’s a testament to his talent I keep trying.
Good times. It’s nice to be able to share the success.

Huge congratulations David. This has been a great year for Garmin but somehow it just wouldn’t have been complete without a well-deserved win for you. Your diary is right on. I was thinking this morning about all the guys who have been working so hard but not necessarily getting the glory like Julian and Martijn, who seem to be called on in every big race. What an incredible team.
You deserve it. I was really, really hoping that you would get it in Barcelona, but you did one hell of a job today. Well done David, well done everybody.
Awesome, so delighted for you, might go and have a little cry now.
Well done David! I watch you whenever I can, and I’m really pleased you won another stage for all your efforts!
Brilliant, just brilliant. And the sword rocks!
Big Congrats David.
All the best George
Garmin seems to be on a roll. Congradulations to David Millar on his impressive Toledo TT win! Best of luck to all in Medrisio. I hear swiss chocolate goes well with champage.
Well done, superb ride by Millar, big up Garmin Slipstream !
very nicely done
What in the world are you going to do with that sword? Will that even go through airport security?
David,
First off, congratulations. Seriously. It has been wonderful watching you storm back this year, and to watch the whole team work so well.
As we draw closer to the end of the season I would also like to thank you for the diaries throughout the season. They have been great, fun reading offering us an insight and a glimpse into that part of your working day that we prolls on the outside rarely see or hear about.
I hope you keep the Diaries up.
The work, and results that you and the rest of the teamof the team have had this year make me proud to be a supporter, proud to have put my money where it belongs this year.
Keep up the good work.
Oh yeah, Ride Argyle!!! ( you should see the looks I get from people when they see those stickers!)
Mr. Millar:
Today was a just reward for a great cyclist on a great team.
When you went out solo on that great stage in the TDF I was out of my seat screaming at the TV. You and the argyle have made this cycling season truly spectacular. I appreciate your witty updates and congratulate you on a fantastic effort and win!
Keep that sword sharp.
Great job! My head is spinning with all these wins. All the hard racing… all the close calls… makes the wins even more special… that’s beauty of clean racing… it’s just better.
Hooray!!!! Fantastic win. congratulations on a brilliant season for yourself and the team. all the best chris and son neal.
Huge congratulations David. We were on the edge of our seats watching the final riders come in and hoping you’d hang on there. Very well deserved. You looked very happy and that sword must be the best ever prize for winning a bike raced!

Have just seen the result on the BBC website, great start to the day. Top man, well deserved for all this years hard work.
Great victory David. I thought Sanchez might just sneak it when he was 11 seconds down on top of the climb. Well done. Hope you can recover for the Worlds next week and give Britain something else to really cheer about.
