Ryder Hesjedal WINS! – Veulta a Espana, stage 12

Team Garmin-Slipstream’s Ryder Hesjedal made it into the long breakaway for the second time during the Vuelta a Espana. But unlike stage 10, where he finished a close second, Hesjedal sealed-the-deal on stage 12′s difficult mountain-top finish — despite having to work most of the final climb alone as his only remaining break mate was sitting-on waiting for his teammate behind.

The result is the first Canadian to win a stage of the Vuelta, and the first Canadian Grand Tour stage win since Steve Bauer in 1988!
