Farrar retains lead in Eneco Tour, stage 3

Director’s report from Matt White:

After a lightning first hour we finally let the break free. It was only three riders so a very easy one to control.

Ricardo van der Velde and Steven Cozza rode well all day on the front and we rested the others to freshen up so they can support Bradley Wiggins over the next few days.

In the end Tyler Farrar was beaten very narrowly by Boonen. But we increased his overall lead. Tomorrow is in the Ardennes so it will be an interesting day — 204km and a very strong Rabobank squad. I expect an aggressive day!
