Director’s report from Lionel Marie:
The team work was great this week! Our objectives were to win a stage and have a podium on the final GC. All of that was accomplished with perfect teamwork to protect Danny Pate and Tom Danielson every day before the key TT stage.
In the TT I was impressed with Tommy D and Danny, a you know from the result! The last stage was very fast with a 47km/h average for the first hour, and a break gone with six guys up the road. As the leader’s team we had a good pace from Huub Duyn, Hans Dekkers, Ricardo Van der Velde and until the climbs — just enough to put pressure on Caisse d’Epargne. In the last 50km it was no surprise if the legs were good or not with six kilometers of tough climbing — half at 11 percent!
Timmy Duggan and Danny were around Tom until 4km to go, but Valverde was stronger in his final attack.
Still, a great result for Tom and for the team!
