Hesjedal fifth in San Sebastian

Race report from Ryder Hesjedal:

Today was a pleasant surprise! My legs were rolling good after a easy week post Paris!

After a hard start and eventually putting 3 of our own in the break of the day(nice job danny ,timmy,and svein) the rest of us were able to follow the chase effort and prepare for a hard final if the break did not succeed. Some bad luck for a strong Martijn and Millar (both crashed after great riding in the front of the climb. The conditions were very difficult with the rain and dangerous/slippery roads.)

This left me to fight out ’till the end and I was happy to contest the sprint from a small group of strong survivors and put up a good final result for the team’s great riding!

    Ryder, your a shocker! What an amazing result. My 4 and 2 yr old daughters watched the entire TdF with me this year and I told them about you and your kit colours. By the time you were in the break into Verbier they were telling me “he Dad look thats Ryder”.

    Yesterday my 4yr old said “Daddy’s favourite biker is Ryder Hesjedal.” Too funny. Keep Canada proud. Excellent result man.
