Wiggo, VDV hangin' tough: Tour de France, stage 8

Team Garmin-Slipstream’s GC contenders Christian Vande Velde and Bradley Wiggins rode an intelligent race today, staying right where they needed to be to hold their spots near the top of the overall leaderboad of the Tour de France.

Neither Wiggo or Vande Velde were in any bother when the pace was lifted by the group, matching all the accelerations over the tough climbs.

Way to go guys, lots of luck tomorrow. You looked great today from my perspective on the sidelines (watching while waving an American flag). I look forward to the successive stages where you guys continue to maintain pace and attack to gain position.

Glad to see the poms can do something well seeing as the Aussies are on top in the cricket! Well done David and Wiggo – great efforts! You too Christian.
