Team Garmin-Slipstream rode in honor of their European home of Girona, Spain today, the start of stage 6. David Millar rode into the day’s main breakaway, becoming the virtual yellow jersey… and then away from it to go solo until the final two kilometers, almost winning the stage! But Millar will wear the prestigious ‘red-on-white’ numbers tomorrow as the winner of the prix de la combativité or most aggressive rider on the day.

man… that was so good, I was hoipeng to see the Golden Garmin today
Awesome! I was screaming at my monitor and cheering for you the whole way!! You guys are awesome! That was such a great stage to watch!
thank you… great effort… what a thrill… proud to be a fan!
Outstanding ride. Hope to see you in the Col de Romme and at the Grand Bornand (or next day in Annecy). I’ll have my IMT shirt!!
Congratulations. Well done
Bob.
Congratulations, David – it’s performances like your’s that make the Tour what it is! Better luck next time…
I told my fellow cyclist and colleague that Garmin would be in the thick of the action being in Girona so was not surprised to see Argyle in the break. When I saw who it was I expected a Voeckler style attack before the finish and my 2 hour drive home was peppered with phone calls (hands free) for updates. I was cheering in the car and got home 2 Km before David was caught.
What a totally stylish and classy ride David, chapeau!
That stage win for the team is not far away.
Great Ride David. Your attack made my day.
Du grand David Millar, et rassuré vous je suis sur que le tour vous a pardonner et que bientot vous allez l’avoir votre victoire. On croit tous en vous . Bonne chance
you are rescuing cycling.
Voeckler’s ride pales into insignificance – he went from much further down on GC, with way better prospects and no top 10 place to risk. Superb effort (AGAIN) David.
All the best for the lumpy bits over the next few days.

That was outstanding – what a show of courage. Can’t wait to read your next diary!
Winning is nice, but giving your all, unsure of the outcome, is beautiful. You did that. Garmin do that. In that sense, you are winners. Chapeau!
David — Bravo! Chapeau! Thank you for being the most colorful rider in the peloton. But who’s idea was it to put the radios on your helmets? Dorky!
I wonder if an AR frame would have made the difference vs F1
