Too bad guys, there's always next year.

Pity the course was shortened from the originally planned length to suit the capabilities of the domestic riders when every other national championship was up around 200 k long.

Small town mentality - doing what they could to keep the jersey on the island instead of showing it off around Europe !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Entertaining and intelligent read as always David.

You and Brad will be marked men after your recent exploits in Edinburgh and the Beaumont Trophy. The UK based guys won't have liked takings such a beating I expect, but if they can't stand the heat .....

Let's hope for some red, white and blue Argyle for the Tour.

David. Listen young mature Sir. A top ten finish is within your realm. Winners are winners even before they win. You are a winner. Now win.

GOOD LUCK DAVID ( AND BRAD ! ) in the British Championships and with your Final Tour Preperations ..
Would Love to see another Great Britain Championship jersey with ARGYLE in the Grande Tour Peleton ..No offence but don`t want to see it on a Columbia Jersey ( know what I mean ?)
Proudly wearing 09 Argyle in Lincolnshire England and hopefully catch you at the Tour of Britain again this year
GO GARMIN-SLIPSTREAM

You ought to write a book Dave, enjoyed this article immensely. Keep 'em coming.
I wish you the best of luck in the nationals, wish it was on telly, but the good thing about the nationals this year is so many top notch continental cyclists coming back to blighty, it's inspiring and exciting.
Hope you and Brad have a great tour and hope that you can make it to the end, Vive le Tour!

Looking forward to reading your posts from the Tour. Hoping you will have the opportunity to keep us fans up to date with the goings on within the race. It's one thing to see it on TV but another to hear what is happening within the team and the actual race. Good luck to you and all the team and support staff.

That's a great posting and a good insight into your preparations.

Good luck to you, Dave, and Bradley on the Iron Mountain on Sunday. See you at the summit. Hope to see a Red, White, Blue and Argyle jersey at the Tour.

fascinating to read the preparation. for my mind the dauphine was such a incredibly strong performance that a top twenty, ten, even more is a possibility in paris at the end of july. i wish you all the luck in the world. keep fit and strong.
my son neal recently insisted that i showed his visiting seven year old friend the now what is now known by us as 'the incredible last four kilometres'. at the end neal was convinced that this time you'd won. i tend to agree with him. all the best in getting ready for monaco and beyond.

Great article. "...BALANCED diet of which I only eat when I’m hungry and only to the point at which I feel I’ve had enough, I never feel full, and ride my bike lots." Classic. I've found that riding slow for me is hard too. It takes a conscious effort.

Good luck at the UK Championships and at the tour.
