Update: Vande Velde heading home after crash

Christian Vande Velde sustained two broken ribs and a severe contusion and sprain to his mid-back during today’s third stage. He will return to Girona as soon as possible for further examination. We will keep you posted on his recovery as it is too soon to speculate how long it will take.

On a happier note, Tyler Farrar was second on the stage and earned the white jersey for best young rider!
