Team effort for Flèche Wallonne

Ryder Hesjedal - Fleche Wallone 2009 Race report from Ryder Hesjedal

Today the TEAM raced great! I only wish I could have delivered a better result for all the hard work that was accomplished.

I was confident for a good race today and was given a perfect chance. Our two new additions to this week Tommy D and Lucas blended in great to the very hard Ardenne racing. They along with Christian, Tom P and Ricardo rode great in there first appearances at La Flèche Wallone and helped in all the right spots throughout the day!

Jason and Dan with a little more experience rode near the front like it was their tenth, not only their second go around! Dan even stretched his legs out on the very hard second-to-last climb rolling off the front of a hard charging group of contenders all firing shots off late in the race.

Dan Martin - Fleche Wallone 2009 As we came off the final technical decent with 5kms to go the usual Flèche unfolded with a group off fity-ish guys flying through the final run into Huy… myself and Dan still rolling along and able to play out the teams plan of protecting me and him as much as possible to have the best chance for a result. Dan again did a huge effort to put me in great position with 1km to go up the brutal Mur de Huy. I didn’t feel amazing but was able to ride steady and finish strong. The specialist sflew up with ease and put on a show once again!

After today I feel like I can crack the top 10 in the near future at this race and then dream of the podium!

Sounds like Jason is doing pretty well. I'd like to hear more. George (Peal Cycles) says Jason in in great shape.

Good to see Dan's form coming on rapidly. He's obviously raring to go. JV's terrier looks like it's going to survive.

Nice work guys, looked like a very fast finale.
I noticed in the photos from today's race that the Garmin boys have on ALL blue shorts as opposed to the blue/black one that have been sported all year. What prompted this change? I like the new look MUCH better.

Ryder your at the door! It won't be long before that door opens. You'll step up on the podium with a girl hanging on to each arm and spray the crowd with Victory Champagne. Good Ride Team Argyle! Thanks for taking care of the Canadian Boys.
