Amstel Gold: Director's report

Martijn Maaskant - Amstel Gold 2009 Director’s report from Lionel Marie

The team was present all day long, and Ryder got into good break with the likes of Oscar Freire. It was a little bit early, but you never know how it will play out. For the rest of the team this race was a new experience and it’s never easy — turn right, left, right again….all day long! Or what is more, a come back like Dan Martin who did a good job handling the 240kms. It is good news for Romandie.

Jason Donald crashed but he is strong and always ready to race. This morning he was happy with his condition so we’ll see on Wednesday.

We are in Belgium now and the weather is good, as is the team spirit too. We did 2.5 hours all together, and with 3 new riders: Yvon the bus driver, Joan our mechanic, and me… hahaha!

Huub Duyn - Amstel Gold 2009

What a great Amstel Gold.. was fun to see it live on top of the Cauberg. The only poor part was the Garmin Rider (didn’t see who it was) getting hit with some shmucks camera..
