David Zabriskie rode into third place in the general classification at Castilla y Leon, with a third place finish in the individual time trial.
“I was a little rusty with no racing since the Tour of California and getting really sick,” Zabriskie said. “I felt good on the flats but not so good on the climb — I think that’s where I really lost time. Sitting in third is a good situation for us. I think we have three guys in top 10 so these are good things!”
Tom Danielson and Christian Vande Velde also had top ten rides placing them in the GC hunt.

Team director Johnny Weltz was happy with the day’s results. “It’s a good situation — we have several guy’s placed well on GC, and tomorrow the race will have another menu of the higher mountains coming up. DZ had a really good ride and was leading to the last time check but in the last 10 km lost like 30 second to Levi, as did Contador. So with the engine tuned in on the podium and Contador trying hard to show himself solid as a leader it might be David’s chance to surprise them all!”
