LA Times: Looking past Lance and finding Timmy

The Timmy Duggan, Tour Down Under stage 4Los Angeles Times chronicles Timmy Duggan’s amazing return to racing less than nine months after his high-speed crash during the 2008 Tour de Georgia.

“Duggan is riding the Tour Down Under with the blessing of his family, of Vaughters, of team manager Matt White. He has found so far that he processes the feel of the peloton differently. He thinks different thoughts during the day, his mental checklist is different than before the injury. But he is racing, he is playing his role as helper for team leaders and regaining the realization that cycling is still his livelihood and that he still has the tools to be good at it.”

I loved reading this yesterday when I came across it. It’s great to have Timmy back and I hope he’s enjoying being back! Best Wishes that things continue going well for him!

Given the tincture of time and there you’ll be at the front Tim

Go, Timmy, go! I can’t help but think of another young rider who nobody really thought that much about until a blood clot nearly ended his life in April of 2004. And THAT guy went on to win the Tour in 2007…and the Giro and Vuelta last year. Keep fighting. You’re an inspiration to everyone who gets on a bike.
