The Tour Down Under picked up in intensity today with a difficult finishing circuit and some small time gaps on a long, tough uphill drag to the finish. Once on the circuit, Julian jumped up the road to get the party started. We wanted a tough race to put Griepel in trouble. At times he only had a single teammate left on the front chasing as we put guys in every serious move up the road. But it ultimately came together in the end.
Cam was taken out at a round-a-bout in one of those slow crashes where someone just wasn’t paying attention. He broke his bike and popped out his shoulder. But being the hard man he is, he popped it back in and rode to the finish. He looks good to start tomorrow but will surely be a little sore for a couple days.
With more guys out of the overall picture, look for some breakaways to stick to the finish in the next couple of days.
