The opening stage of the second annual Tour of Missouri is 145 km long and ends with a finishing circuit in Kansas City. The race kicks off in front of St. Joseph City Hall and the first Mich ULTRA King of the Mountain line is less than 20 miles into the stage.
The first 50 plus miles feature a series of relentless small, uncategorized climbs, some of which form a panoramic view of the Missouri River. The first points toward the Edward Jones Sprint Jersey will be up for grabs in Platte City and Parkville en route to the final three circuits around the Country Club Plaza District and Ward Parkway in Kansas City.
In a wrinkle different from last year, the circuits in Kansas City will be reversed and feature a 300 meter climb to a Mich ULTRA KOM point. The finish will be fast and furious with cyclists descending at about 45 miles per hour before winding up for the flat sprint ending near last year’s finish.
Stage 1 is scheduled to start at 12:30 and finish at 16:30.

Uh, oh. TD is not in this one either. Seriously, what is going on? He’s an “also ran” in Utah, then will compete in the US Pros with nothing else scheduled for the entire month of September. It has not been a good year for Mr. Danielson. Welcome to your 30’s.
Very mysterious issues surround TD as the TofM is now off his website…I wish someone would come clean. Is he still a member of the team?
Was looking forward to seeing TD in Missouri. I’m guessing he’s injured but it would be nice to see some confirmation from the team. 2008 will definitely go down as a “year to forget” for Tommy.
Good luck to Christian and the gang in the TOM.

It’s nice to see we’ve got a truly All-American team in the race. Good luck, guys.
Good Luck Guys!!!
See you on the road in Missouri!!!!
To follow-up on earlier observations - my initial take on JV’s downplaying TD when he was hired was that JV was trying to take the pressure off of TD so he could maybe regain confidence and/or form as he recovered from his injuries. Regardless, it appears that there is something missing in the communication. Either the staff are not clear in their directions/desires or TD is not understanding what they really expect of him. Maybe time for them to sit down and have an open discussion.
As a resident of Missouri, I’ll be out there cheering for Garmin-Chipotle. Will be fun to see them live again. The KOM climbs outside Augusta on the Hermann stage 6 should be fun again. You guys have GOT to beat the heck out of Rock Racing. !
Looking forward to grandson Daniels doings as a new member of the team. After success in the Tour of Pa, and the Red Robin Madison cup, it is great to see him move to higher levels of competition!
So is Tommy D racing?
Sure would be nice to get an answer on Tommy D situation. ToM is back on his website race schedule, but nothing here. Please Website Monitor could you interject?
Hey Jim - It was just announced that Tommy D is indeed doing the Tour of Missouri while Will Frischkorn will not be in attendance.
