Dan Martin continued to hold his own in what has become a race within a race for the Best Young jersey on today’s epic 5-climb stage in Portugal. Keeping the lead group in check, Dan didn’t let Tiago Machado, second in the Best Young race, get too far ahead of him. Machado finished 17″ ahead of Dan who still holds more than a minute lead on the Portuguese rider.
Dan finished 8th on the stage and moved to 9th in the overall. Lucas Euser also had a solid day finishing 33rd and moving to 24th overall.
Tomorrow’s individual time trial will hold everyone in suspense until the very end. Dan and his nemesis Tiago appear to be similar time trialists on paper…so stay tuned!

Well done Dan. That looked really tough. It’s one on one tomorrow though so get that Jersey in the bag.
Hey Christian! How’s Europe! Good to see another Canadian over there. A little different than Symmetrics? It would be nice to see you ride with Ryder once you get a little more experience. Good Luck!
