We started off the Tour of Utah today exactly as we had hoped…with a stage win! Jason took off in pursuit of a small break early on in the 101 mile race. It didn’t take long before he joined them, making it a group of 4. About halfway through the race, the breakaway was misguided off the course. So the peloton was stopped and waited for them to get back on course until they had a 3 minute gap again. We had a chance for a nature break, time to grab some bottles, and then cheer Jason on as they passed by!
With Jason driving the break and taking the KOM points, they still had a two-minute lead going into the final 20 km. Even a last minute chase by Rock Racing only put a minor dent in their advantage. Jason (above) made his move inside the last kilometer and took home a well-deserved victory.
The rest of us rolled in together with the field. We had an easy ride in the peloton, just staying hydrated and conserving energy. The word is that today’s climbs are the real deal. The first one comes after only 10 miles. It’ll be full on, out of the blocks, tomorrow. We’re looking to keep the streak going!
Stay tuned, Blake

Yes guys!
A great start for the riders in argyle. Congrats to Jason on the stage win. Can’t wait for stage 2 and the fallout that will ensue from those 3 climbs.
uhmm, isn’t the teams sponsored by Garmin? does the team only ride with their GPS units for the TDF team, cuz I would expect that team argyle would be the last team to ever get lost on a course, just saying.
@jlee - I sort of agree with you, but I would imagine that you follow the motorcycles/cars that are out in front of you if there isn’t something more obvious like a crowd of spectators.
Will be interesting to see if that gets mentioned anywhere else.
Great result from the team - and I think that one of the guys called for the team to win a few days ago too.
I grew up in Nephi and am familiar with the turn they got lost on. It is really tricky. Even people familiar with the area take the wrong turn all the time. It is very misleading.
Stoked! Keep it up
