Team Garmin-Chipotle riders are recording the stages of the 2008 Tour de France with their Garmin Edge 705s for all you data hungry fans out there. Each day we will feature one rider and his data.
A medium mountain day, the 196.5 km stage 18 includes a few smaller climbs. There’s one category 2, one category 3 and and one category 4 climb with grades ranging from 5-9%.
Today’s stage 18 was a chance for most of the weary peloton – including Kiwi sprinter Julian Dean – to catch their breath a bit before Saturday’s show down. Though a couple of breakaway groups took the top ten places, Julian Dean hug back with the peloton to roll in almost seven minutes back. There were no major changes to the overall classification.
