ScrippsNews talks to former Olympian Connie Carpenter-Phinney about her son Taylor Phinney and his one year journey from his victory at the Junior Road World Championships in Mexico in August, 2007 to his Olympic debut in August.
From the article: “We thought maybe he’d finish in the top 10; when he won it, it was like opening the magic door and saying, ‘Wow,’” said his mother, former Olympian Connie Carpenter-Phinney. “At that point, we realized he was going places a lot more quickly than we could’ve guessed. We could see the volume of traveling that was required. So we decided I would be going to all the World Cups.”

Way to go, Taylor! Look how far he’s come since we watched him ride a tandem with his dad on Ride the Rockies in 1996.
I’m pulling for this whole wonderful family. Go, Taylor!
Two weeks, right? That roar you hear to the west is the entire city of Boulder cheering you on, Taylor.
