Overview:
Team Garmin-Chipotle riders are recording the stages of the 2008 Tour de France with their Garmin Edge 705s for all you data hungry fans out there. Each day we will feature one rider and his data.
The 194.5 km stage 14 takes the peloton further east and north to the edge of the Alps. A relatively flat stage, the course includes two category 4 climbs: Cote de Mane (490m) and Col de L’Orme (734m).
The last “sprinters’ stage” before the race hit the Alps, today’s rolling course was the fastest yet of the 2008 Tour. While the final uphill finish into Digne-les-Bains (599m) proved challenging for the pure sprinters, Julian Dean was able to demonstrate his well-rounded talents and powered up the final bump to finish 4th on the stage.
