Writing for the Chicago Tribune, Christian Vande Velde recounts the events of stage 6, where he attacked on the final climb, Super Besse and moved up to 4th in the overall classification.
From the diary: “So I attacked with 5K (3.1 miles) to go and was caught with 1K to go. It was a risky move, but it was fruitful in the fact that I know now what I can and can’t do on the hard climbs. And I can do more than I thought.”
