After more than 200 K of riding off the front with three others, Will Frischkorn still had enough punch to battle for a heroic 2nd place in today’s wet, hard stage! Like Danny yesterday, Will was first the rider to attack, making his move in the first kilometer. One Italian and two French riders quickly joined Will and the four worked up a gap on the peloton that eventually peaked at 13’. Will continued to animate the break and stayed on the attacks and counterattacks that
pushed him to the limit during the final battle to the finish. His efforts earned him the Most Aggressive jersey (pictured right), awarded by a jury of journalists and distinguished people.
Behind the break, crashes and hard rain splintered the peloton, giving the four up front a strong shot at the stage win. David Millar, along with most of Team Garmin-Chipotle, finished in the first chase group and he remains in the top ten overall. He is classified 8th with a 1′46″ gap on the new leader Romain Feillu. Team Garmin-Chipotle’s overall strong finish moved them up to 1st place in the overall team classification also!
Ryder Hesjedal and Trent Lowe got caught behind a crash that put them in the last group to finish. Though it’s still really early and both of them can make up time in the mountains.

Fantastic ride!
Heck Yes, keep up the AWESOME work!
Denver, CO is behind you!
WOOT! Chaos goes crazy! Frisckhorn was a mutant! Way to go. 1 one team ranking should only expand after the stage 4 TT! What a great start to Le Tour men!
Great ride guys! What a great day for Will, and Dave and CV should have great days tomorrow!!! Godd luck boys!
Hey that “Frisky Korn Burrito” is one CLEAN mean riding machine. Cooked with no “PRESERVATIVES” leaving no tour ruining aftertaste (test)! Nice ride guys. Too bad Ryder and Trent got stuck behind the cashed road furniture or the team lead would be of Magnus proportions!
WHOOO! GARMIN! GARMIN!
Way to go guys. Can’t wait to watch Will and the rest of the team on VS. Sure wish could be there to show our support… but just know we’re rooting for you guys out here in California!
CONGRATS on a great stage!!
I was yelling at the TV this morning. Awesome stage - awesome effort Will. Great riding for the team as well to grab first place in the Team competition. Ride strong on the TT tomorrow.
Way to go! Frisckhorn you rock!
Can’t wait until tomorrow.
Way to Will… Congratulations on an FANTASTIC ride.
What a crazy courageous break in miserable conditions. Well done Will. Despite the rain I reckon Millar has kept his powder dry today and will go all out tommorrow.
Great day today everyone, especially Will! We’re cheering for you. Keep up the GREAT work!
That was awesome! well done guys!
I was completely unproductive this morning at work!! I just kept watching the race on three different sites!! WAY TO GO WILL!!! I have been talking about this all day!! We are all so proud of the team and everything you all have done!! What a great show!! Good luck tomorrow in the TT!! Blow it Dave, Christian, and the rest of the Argyle Armada!!! WOOO!!!
Any chance we could see the power file from the day?
That would be sweet.
Great Job Will!!!
where does one find the team jerseys etc?
Great work team. Good luck to all of you in the TT tomorrow. Ryder looking forward to some knock out results. Currently in PG
‘Atta boy Will! Holy crap, I was jumping up and down in front of my television. THAT’s what I’m talking about. Can’t wait to see what David can do in the TT tomorrow. Good luck!
Brilliant ride by Will ; he couldn’t have given anymore effort to the day ; fantastic stuff!
One small boy was jumping out of his skin for Will, his cannonball swimming buddy :-). He has a big smile when he says “that’s the team!”
Will,
What an inspiring ride! I knew you could stay away. I think everyone knows your name and the team now, and I couldn’t be prouder.
Cheers–
Will -
Don’t be disappointed. I did see you let up. 10 more yards it was you. Even without the win you rocked all day and stamped your name on this race. Had us all going nuts the entire race. Thank you!
Nice ride Will! Really enjoyed it. Keep it up.
Well done lads!!!! Fantastic day on the road. Will… simply brilliant (unlucky not to get the win you had my whole office on your wheel screaming for you, and most of them don’t even ride). David, sitting ready to pounce. And all the rest of the boys had a good day.
LOVING IT!!!!!!
Max
Excellent ride, Will! Congrats! Nice blog post, too, post-race. Someone needs to get you a keyboard for the Blackberry…
Have a great night soaking in what you accomplished. Enjoy the “recovery day” of the TT.
Great ride after a VERY sketchy move to launch the break! Glad the daredevil bit worked out but “limite dangereuse”.
Great ride, a bold break.. Go Julian.. the kiwi fans are behind you all the way!!!
have a great stage 4.
Woohoo!!! So, red plus yellow, does Will get an *orange* number tomorrow?
Great job Will and all the guys who made the split, we’ll be with you all tomorrow!
Awesome job, Will! You brought tears to my eyes.
Awesome Ride!!!! You Guys make me proud to be a fan you’re the only interesting thing about this years TDF Best of Luck.
Way to go Will. Outstanding - enjoyed every minute. Keep it up!
Get in there!
Great ride Will! The tt is going to be awesome!
love the new unis.
Great job Will!!! You definately earned the M.A.R. Jersey today. Keep up the good work.
Fantastic ride!
Top marks to all the riders in the break for holding out and ramping up the speed to maintain the gap when the peloton finally reacted.
Too bad it wasn’t the top step of the podium, but i’m sure the team’s first stage will not be long in coming.
9 Great Cyclists, the Garmin-Chipotle squad, and Slipstream Sports, what a great team. You are all helping Take Back the Tour! (Way to go Will!!!Most Agressive Rider Stage 3)
Super brilliant ride today, Will! I was yelling at the TV hoping you’d come around that one last microguy in red. Maybe next time…. Colorado’s rootig for you. Love your blog over on VeloNews, too!
Awesome day. Was on my feet rooting the last km. Keep working hard and best of luck!
P.s. I love the look on the new Felt bikes. Beautiful.
A heartfelt congratulations and “tip of the (brim up) cycling cap” to Will Frischkorn. I was on the absolute edge of my couch cushion for the last 2km, kinda flipping out. I hope that the experience gained today will serve you well, sir. If Feillu had helped a bit more in nailing back lil Dumoulin, then just maybe there would have been that extra reserve of energy left to get the win. You have proven that the win will come though. I will be continuing to support the Argyle Armada throughout the tour, and I look forward to seeing some of you chaps again at the Tour of Elk Grove in my neck of the woods. Rest up, but keep riding hard and clean… the only way a Slipstreamer knows how.
Way to go Will. What an awesome ride! I’ve been following Team Garmin-Chipotle H3O since seeing you take 2nd at the TOM. Keep up the good work. Best of luck to the whole Team for the Time Trials tomorrow.
Awesome ride and effort Will! What a way to be initiated into your 1st TdF. Truly a ballsy ride. For the rest of GC Powered by H30: Excellent effort and a great reward of the TeamGC leader!
Best of luck to DM tomorrow. I’ll be rooting from the couch!

Bonne route à toute l’équipe et quel beau début de Tour.Congratulations.
Marina
Continued success for the Garmin Chipotle team!!!
Best wishes for all in the time trial today.
Great to have a team that I can really get behind and cheer for in this year’s tour. Will’s ride was inspiring on stage 3. Also seeing Millar and Vande Velde in the time trial was great. Now we want to see one of them in yellow after stage 6.
