Frischkorn break stage 2 TDFAfter more than 200 K of riding off the front with three others, Will Frischkorn still had enough punch to battle for a heroic 2nd place in today’s wet, hard stage! Like Danny yesterday, Will was first the rider to attack, making his move in the first kilometer. One Italian and two French riders quickly joined Will and the four worked up a gap on the peloton that eventually peaked at 13’. Will continued to animate the break and stayed on the attacks and counterattacks that Will Frischkorn, Tour de France stage 3 pushed him to the limit during the final battle to the finish. His efforts earned him the Most Aggressive jersey (pictured right), awarded by a jury of journalists and distinguished people.

Behind the break, crashes and hard rain splintered the peloton, giving the four up front a strong shot at the stage win. David Millar, along with most of Team Garmin-Chipotle, finished in the first chase group and he remains in the top ten overall. He is classified 8th with a 1′46″ gap on the new leader Romain Feillu. Team Garmin-Chipotle’s overall strong finish moved them up to 1st place in the overall team classification also!

Ryder Hesjedal and Trent Lowe got caught behind a crash that put them in the last group to finish. Though it’s still really early and both of them can make up time in the mountains.
