I’m really excited to be on the Tour de France team! Now I can’t wait till we get to Brest for Le Grand Depart!
It’s going be my first Grand Tour and the longest race I have ever done. I don’t really know what to expect. But I’m ready to learn from all the guys on the team who have done the Tour and other Grand Tours many times. The next few days we will all be together to preview the first time trial course in Cholet, so I have time to ask the guys all about it.
I see many opportunities for this team to do some great things in the Tour. We have climbers, time trial specialists and sprinters that can do it all. And for myself, the way to get a good result will be to attack on one of the flat stages.
There is one stage I’m looking forward to most of all and that’s the last stage with the finish in Paris on the 27th. Not only because it’s the last stage but also because that’s my birthday! I think it will be a nice party.
See you in Paris, Martijn
