In collaboration with Sports Illustrated, Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel will air a special feature on David Millar called “Clean Slate” tonight, June 24 at 10:00 PM ET/PT.
Clean Slate summary:
“…he subsequently admitted to doping, gave up his world championship medal and was suspended from cycling for two years. Today, Millar is a new man whose search for personal and cycling redemption has led him to a new team that’s single-handedly instituted one of the toughest anti-doping programs in sports. Correspondent Jon Frankel reports in this REAL SPORTS/Sports Illustrated collaboration.”

anyone able to get a copy so we can watch this in the uk?
cheers
Yeah, I’m looking for a copy myself. HBO Real Sports puts some of their shows on iTunes but not all of them. So we will see.
Nice piece, as MSM goes. I think that closing chat between Gumbel and Frankel shows that people are getting the picture.
I loved the piece. David’s story really is a microcosm of life with it’s ups and downs. Our values are tested all of the time and redemption is always around the corner.
I did not like the closing chat with Gumbel and Frankel. The comment about Lance turned me the wrong way. It was a very passive aggresive accusation of Lance doping to win his 7 tours. They could not understand why cycling fans still consider him a hero. They put him in the same catagory as Barry Bonds and Roger Clemmons.
They spent so much time focusing on Garmin-Chipotle and the future of the sport, only to end by dragging out the skeletons of cyclings past. The closing demonstrated to me they really don’t get it, and they are still looking just looking for a villian.
Adam - I completely agree with you. The editorial and unsubstantiated attack on Lance at the end tainted what, up to that point, was a fairly good piece.
