Delta Tour stage 1: Maaskant and Sutton top ten on stage and GC

Home boy Martijn Maaskant (right) continues to light up the Delta Tour finishing 8th and just ahead of teammate Chris Sutton in the final mass sprint. Martijn rode at the front of the race in the final kilometers and earned sprint points for second place finishes in both intermediate sprints while Julian Dean grabbed third place points in one of the two sprints.

Martijn’s aggressive riding has placed him high in virtually all the classifications: he is 6th overall by 4″; 2nd by 2″ in the best young rider classification; and 3rd in sprint points. Chris isn’t far behind at 9th overall and 4th in the best young rider race.
