Will's Philly Fun

Will Frischkorn, Philadelphia International Championships A crazy hot and humid day met us for the 24th running of Philly. As we rode over to the start, I think it was already the hottest and most uncomfortable day any of us had dealt with so far this season – and that was at 8 am.

Martijn Maaskant, Philadelphia International Championships Our plan was to tag any major splits early. With Jason, Blake and Cozza going gangbusters, we wouldn’t let anything of consequence go uncovered. As the race went on, the rest of us came into play. Martijn and I snuck into a couple of major, but eventually fruitless, splits over the Wall. Then a storming Meatball joined a number of smaller attacks near the end.

As the finish circuits started up, it became clear a field sprint was going to be the name of the game. This was a completely opposite outcome of what we’d planned for or expected. But fortunately, Tyler still had his game face on, and after a tough day still managed to sneak into 6th!
