Race report from DS Matt White
We are all but 28.5 km from finishing this epic Giro! Three-week tours are always a challenge. They test riders both physically and mentally. And a test it has been, and not only for the riders. Slipstream/Chipotle H3O has taken a huge leap into the big time. This year’s Giro has given us highs and lows and a whole lot of experience going into the upcoming Tour De France.
We had three goals when we came to Italy nearly one month ago:
1. To win stage 1 team time trial in Palermo
2. To prepare for the Tour de France
3. To take opportunities on certain stages and try to win them
We have achieved all of our goals. Today’s last stage is another one of those days we can try to win. Our four survivors are all good time trialers and will be giving it their all today. Our real hopes lie with our two stage racing veterans, Christian and David. It will be a hard task but who said winning at this level was easy!
Slipstream/Chipotle H3O start times
14:00 Danny Pate
14:46 David Millar
15:20 Ryder Hesjedal
15:29 Christian Vande Velde
16:58 Alberto Contador
