Since there were still 70 riders close enough on GC any of them could win the race, the boys played it out until the end. Will (right) was the first to attack right from start. He was later joined by three others and that was the break of the day. They gained up to 2 minutes on peloton.

But the bunch never slowed the hard chase, and Will’s group was caught right at 20 km to go. So every thing stayed together for a mass sprint. The winner of the sprint took the overall classification.
