Despite an early breakaway, today’s slow stage (39.6 kph) ended in a mass sprint that saw “Kiwi Guy” Julian Dean (above) in good position. Dean finished 9th and seems to be coming back strong from a couple of hard crashes during stage 2.
Christian Vande Velde also finished with the front group on the same time as the leader and ever so slightly improved his overall classification.
