Giro stage 8: Vande Velde ever vigilant

Today’s mostly downhill stage was fast and relatively uneventful. The average speed for the day was 44.6 kph. Though a solid break of five went early, they were caught before the final mass sprint.

Guarding his strong overall position in the GC, Christian Vande Velde finished with the front group of 38. As the highest ranked argyle, Christian is less than ten minutes down in the overall classification.
