Race report from DS Johnny Weltz
The forecast was for rain all day, but turned out to be sunny and very, very hot. This morning we had to send Tyler home as he has an infection next to his jaw so the whole side of the face is swollen. In the feed zone, we lost Martijn who has problems with spring pollen allergies.
It was an extremely fast stage from the start as everybody wanted to be in the break. The break never took, so it ended in a field sprint that Sebastian Siedler won. Kilian flatted with 10 km to go, just when the race was beginning to splinter, and he couldn’t make it up. The rest finished in the bunch and managed to avoid a crash in the final 200 meters.

One Response for "Picardie stage 1: Hot, fast and hanging in"
is it common to flat at the end of the stage? i realize this is a rhetorical question, but bad seems to keep happening to the team near the end of a stage.
