Despite flatting just 2 km from the finish, Tyler Farrar (right with Christian) still wrapped up the day 4th overall and 2nd in the Best Young Rider competition, thanks to intermediate time bonuses.
Slipstream/Chipotle rode aggressively all day, keeping Tyler in striking range for the intermediate sprints. He took first and second place in two of the three sprints. The extra 5″ he earned in bonus time came in very handy later.
Despite being in ideal position for the final wind up, Tyler flatted and rolled in dead last. But since his flat came within 3 km of the finish, he received the same time as the main bunch. The time bonuses he earned - 5″ total - moved him into fourth place overall. He is also second overall in the Best Young Rider competition.
