This is a very particular race with three stages in two days. For several years, it has taken place in the Ardennes region of France. Also, every year, the race takes place on the weekend when Europeans have to change their clocks for daylight savings time, making things more difficult for Sunday’s early stage.

The first stage is traditionally reserved for sprinters and is long but without any real difficulties. However, the sprinters aren’t going to like the second stage on Sunday morning. It is a short stage but very difficult with several back-to-back climbs. This stage will also be difficult because the start is very early in the morning and, in the Ardennes, it’s often cold.

For those that survive the morning stage, there is a final stage on Sunday afternoon - a time trial that covers a dozen or so kilometers (8.3 km to be exact).

It is a very hard test that is won only by a all-around rider — like David Millar or David Zabriskie. They are capable of winning this race.
