On March 24, 2008, Team Garmin-Chipotle H3O received official word from the Amaury Sport Organization (ASO) that the team was selected to participate in the 95th Tour de France on July 5-27! The Argyle Armada will be one of twenty teams from nine different countries who will compete this July in one of the world’s greatest sporting events.
Vaughters told Velonews: “I feel relieved after all the work we put in. We proved we are one of the better teams in the world right from the start… The bigger picture has been A+ work for a new team, so I’m glad ASO agreed with that. Off we go.”
Vaughters said it was too early to talk about which 9 riders + 1 alternate would make the final Tour de France roster. However, the team has released a long list of riders who are being considered for Le Tour. The final roster will be announced June 24.

Woo-hoo! Congrats, guys!
That´s great! Excellent news
!But to be honest, after the teams performance up to now the team really deserves it!
:-)
One reason more for me to follow this years TdF.
Congratulations!
Congrats Guys! The most deserving team to get the invite, hands down! Can’t wait to watch the tdf this summer!
Congrats on the Tour invite. You worked hard for it and deserve it. Now go and kick some butt!
Congratulations! It’s incredibly exciting to have a Colorado based team riding the Tour this year. Of course it’s also exciting to have a Colorado based team riding Flanders and Roubaix (go Maggy!).
Congrats guys, a well deserved honor. Looking forward to the rest of the season — and of course nearly a month of Argyle in July.
Congrats Guys! I cannot wait to see Dave rockin’ the stache at the Tour!
This is great! I want to buy a team shirt now
Congratulations! Well deserved–I look forward to following the Argyle Armada at the Tour!
What an honor to have two American teams in this event and especially one from Colorado!
Great job guys and Jonathan-you deserve it!
yee haw! you go guys! you have made us so proud!
You’ve animated every race so far and you have finally given me a reason to watch this years Tour!
Congrats!!!
But too bad the best team with the defending champ won’t be there. Until teams can earn a guaranteed start it is going to be hard to find major sponsors. Slipstream, High Road and now CSC all need a major sponsor but nobody will bite unless they know they will be in the Tour for the next X years…
oohhh rraaahhh, I will be watching and pulling for you. Giddy up-n-go
BRILLIANT!!!! Well done lads! Fan-bloody-tastic to see a CLEAN team getting it’s just desserts in this sport. The sport will be better off for it. But what’s even better is that you lot earned it the old fashion way, with sweet and blood on the roads!
The best part… clean means unpredictable, aka engaging to follow.
Few things boys:
1) Now that you got the invite, stay clean! The sport and it’s supporters NEED it.
2) Race with heart, passion, bravery, and honesty. That’s all we ask of our heroes, and you are that… heroes!!!
3) Maggy, this is your chance to show Liquigas just how wrong they were not to take you to the tour last year. You give all us big guys a hope in the sport we love (I’m 6′1″ and 215lbs) Batter the field at Roubaux and take a sprint stage at the Tour for us.
Now time to go out and get my kit and wear it proud all season long. (PS JV, if you can sort it out to get them on the market I would be forever grateful!!)
Way to go guys!!! That is awesome news. You guys deserve it!
Congratulations to the Team and to Felt Bicycles for providing them with the incredible machinery!! I Can’t wait to see those Team Issue F1’s and DA’s kick butt for 3 weeks.
Where can I buy a team jersey?
Great work fellas.
I’m really happy that you guys got in and can’t wait to see you guys have a crack at the TdF.
YESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THE TOUR IS GOING TO BE BRILLIANT AGAIN THIS YEAR!
Well done team, I’m very pleased for you all and your many followers around the world! (me included)
Cant wait to see what you boys get up to at the tour, its great to see the Argyle getting snapped up in all the press at the moment.
Its often said that getting somewhere is the easy part, staying there however is much more difficult!
with that in mind I know you guys can all do it, there is a great vibe that resinates from your team and its going a long way to start repairing the damage that cycling has sustained recently.
Well done to you all
Great job Team Slipstream…congratulations. What a great opportunity to show that clean riders can do great things in the Tour. Apparently there is some justice in the world with Astana getting snubbed. I feel bad for Levi…but…as the saying goes…you’re judged by the company you keep. Go Argyle!! So…you’re going to discount your jerseys now to celebrate the Tour invite?….lol.
i feel so happy that you guys are going to TDF, can’t wait to see the argule and a Felt bike in the TDF.
BRAVO!!! ALLEZ ALLEZ ALLEZ ARGYLE!!!
w/love from petaluma aka P-town,
suze & ted
Sweet! I can’ wait to see how you guys to running in the greatest bike race in the world against these super-human cyclists. Now there is even more reason to watch the Tour with a strong American team in there. Go Slipstream!
Congrats on the invite to the tour! Now as a Canadian fan I think I can speak for most of Canadian cycling fans… please put Ryder H on the tour team! We would love to see a Canadian ride in the TDF. It’s been way too long since the last one. Go Ryder!
My prediction for the tour team..
Magnus Backstedt
Tom Danielson
Julian Dean
Tyler Farrar
Ryder Hesjedal
Martijn Maaskant
David Millar
Christian Vande Velde
David Zabriskie
sleepy martijn deserves it!
Congrats guys! As everyone else has said, it was awesome to hear that you’re in! I can’t wait to follow this years Tour, and I will definitely be cheering you on from the sidelines at stage 4 in Cholet! Way to go guys! Roel…that line up is a powerhouse!
