The gnarly, one-day Monte Paschi Eroica starts in Gaiole and includes seven sectors of “sterrati” - gravel roads - before it ends 180 km later in Siena. The event is organized by RCS Sport–the same folks who bring you the Giro and Milan-San Remo–and gets its name from the Italian word for heroic - eroica.
The theory behind this unusually challenging race was to put on a hard core, one day race with brutal, classic “strade bianche” or white gravel roads sectors. Let our heroes ride!
